Save a Life, Get Suspended - Axess - 01-28-2016 http://www.medicaldaily.com/school-asthma-attack-suspended-370986 So essentially what happened was a girl was having an asthma attack in class. The teacher was not sure how to proceed with such an event, so she e-mailed the nurse and was waiting for a response. The girl passed out due to being unable to breathe. The teacher still didn't want to do anything until the nurse responded. Another kid said "f—k that, we ain’t got time to wait for no email from the nurse,” and proceeded to carry the young girl to the nurse’s office. The kid later got suspended for leaving the classroom... The girl is now okay. Your thoughts? btw, this was in Texas ![]() In another Texas school. One kid was having an asthma attack and another kid let him use his inhaler. The kid was okay after using the inhaler. The two kids got suspended for “sharing a controlled substance.” ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() === Attempt at devils advocate: Story 1: -Kid could have made things worse by dropping the girl -Kid could have gotten lost with the girl and made things worse Story 2: -Prescription might not have been good enough for the kid having an attack and might have made things worse === My thoughts Story 1: Kid probably saved a life. At most he should receive a talking to if there was serious concern as to why he should not leave the class with her to the nurses office. Story 2: Kid was trying to help and saved a life. It should be explained how it could have gone bad, but in this case it didn't and there shouldn't be suspension. RE: Save a Life, Get Suspended - Disk - 01-28-2016 Damn. RE: Save a Life, Get Suspended - CNS - 01-30-2016 The fact that no adult was willing to take initiative tells me everything I need to know. Great precedent to set, teacher. Emergency? DO NOTHING! As for the other story, same precedent set essentially. Let's train these kids that inactivity is the way to succeed and selflessness is only going to result in punishment. RE: Save a Life, Get Suspended - Dangerous_D - 01-31-2016 teachers should be trained in CPR and First Aid RE: Save a Life, Get Suspended - WeaponTheory - 01-31-2016 Quote:While the teacher waited to receive email instructions from the school nurse, the girl gagged and wheezed for three minutes without receiving any help. Kid dying? Better wait on a fucking email! The teacher should get fucked for being irresponsible, that's someone's kid! Devil's Advocate: That kid has been fucking with the teacher all school year. Karma got cockblocked. |
